Establishing optimal illuminance for pedestrian reassurance using segmented regression

The optimal illuminance from road lighting for pedestrian reassurance after dark is that beyond which further increase in has no significant effect on reassurance. Previous studies have not revealed a precise estimate of illuminance. current study investigates the use segmented regression defining illuminance, applied to 25 662 evaluations by 380 test participants who recorded their assessments 253 locations three cities Israel. Segmented led models better fit empirical data than unsegmented counterparts and offered estimates these ranging 8.9 lx 26 lx, depending location.
